Details of major changes to services will be posted here.

Closure of Newgate Street, Newcastle due to roof collapse

Newcastle City Council have advised that the emergency closure may remain in place for up to 10 days as the building owner will need to construct scaffolding in order to gain access to the roof and make safe.

  • Go North East

Services which normally travel from Redheugh Bridge via Clayton Street and Newgate Street to the city centre are diverting via St James Boulevard omitting Clayton Street and Newgate Street.

Leaving the city centre, buses normally operating via Newgate Street and Bigg Market are diverting via Blackett Street and Pilgrim Street towards High Level Bridge.  Buses which normally travel via Newgate Street and Grainger Street are diverting via St James Boulevard and Westgate Road towards Central Station.

Service Q3 to Wallsend is diverted from Percy Street via Blackett Street, Pilgrim Street, and Market Street to Grey Street.

  • Stagecoach

Services  36, 71,72, 87, 88 diverted non-stop via Market Street, Pilgrim Street and Blackett Street.

  • Arriva

Service X12 is operating via the Tyne Bridge towards Gateshead, omitting its stop at the High Level Bridge.

North Road/Milburngate Road Works

Tuesday 3rd January for several months.

Road works will affect bus services operating between North Road and Milburngate, starting Monday 3rd October 2016 until the end of November 2016. The works will cease for the whole of December before restarting in January 2017.

Buses departing from North Road will use temporary stops on the opposite side of the road to their regular departure stops and there will be no services departing from Milburngate during the works. Alternate arrangements can be found on our Interactive public transport map.
