Major Changes to Services

Details of major changes to services will be posted here. However, there are currently no major changes to service to report.

Temporary Disruption to Services

Durham

The Durham bound bus stop on Stockton Road outside the Durham Uni Science site will be removed altogether for about 2 years from 12 th July.(The Journey Planner has been amended and reflects the removal of the bus stop)
This is because of extensive building works which will take out the footpath.
Despite efforts, no alternative site that is acceptable to the police has been found and passengers are dircted to the stop on Church Street.

From Monday 15th September for approximately 3 months.
Sunderland Road at Gilesgate Moor between Gilesgate and Mill Lane will be closed to allow for main sewerage works to take place.
Services 20, 65, X22 & X23 will be diverted via Dragon Lane and Sherburn Road during these works and will be unable to serve bus stops on Sunderland Road between Sherburn Road Ends and Travellers Rest. The Bus Stops at the north end of Dragon Lane and stops on Sherburn Road at Sherburn Road Ends and Majestic only will be served on diversion by services 20 and 65 in both directions, whilst services X22 & X23 will only observe the bus stop at the north end of Dragon Lane in each direction.
Important note re Go Northern Service 20
Increased traffic congestion, resulting in further delays to the service, may result in Go Northern service 20 being diverted via the A690 from the end of September. In this case a shuttle bus will operate between Gilesgate Moor and Belmont to connect
Service 61 will be diverted via Sherburn Road, and Dragon Lane to and from Moor Crescent

Arriva Service 63
Service 63 will run as normal from the City Centre to Musgrave Gardens BUT then return via Bradford Crescent, Kepier Crescent Mill Lane and Sunderland Road.

Refurbishment of Stanley Bus Station - stand allocation change
Phase 1 (6Sep - 1 Oct)
Stand F: v8, 78 (Consett), 706,707,813,794,825,828,934
Stand G: 43(Newcastle),44(Newcastle),X31(Lanchester),x30 (Lanchester), 143 (Crookgate)
Stand H: 43 (Durham), 44(Durham), 143 (East Stanley)
Stand J: 8 (Sunderland), 78 (Sunderland), 130
Stand H: X30 (Newcastle),x31 (Newcastle)

Phase 2 ( 2Oct - 22 Oct)
Stand A: v8, 78 (Consett), 706,707,813,794,825,828,934
Stand B: 43(Newcastle),44(Newcastle),X31(Lanchester),x30 (Lanchester), 143 (Crookgate)
Stand C: 43 (Durham), 44(Durham), 143 (East Stanley)
Stand D: 8 (Sunderland), 78 (Sunderland), 130
Stand E: X30 (Newcastle),x31 (Newcastle)

Teesside

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council will be resurfacing the A66/Old Station Roundabout, using overnight road closures over 5 nights between 1915 and 0600, commencing on Monday 6 September.
This will result in services 747/748, 794/795 being diverted and being unable to serve the bus stops at South Bank (St Peters and Old Station Road), and at Cargo Fleet Offices, Queensway and Dannimac during the affected times.

Due to painting work being carried out on the Castlegate Centre in Stockton High Street on Sundays 5 & 12 September 2010, Boroughbus service 506 will instead depart from stand 9 (instead of stand 8), between 0800 and 1630 on both days.

3RD RIFLES FREEDOM PARADE, STOCKTON, 9 SEPTEMBER
The 3rd Rifles will be holding their Freedom Parade in Stockton on Thursday 9 September 2010. Stockton High Street will be closed for its full length, between 1130 and 1330. During this time most bus services will diverted to run via Prince Regent Street, with temporary stops at the southern end, outside and opposite Regent Housewares & DIY.
The will be some exceptions to this, as follows:
Compass Royston service 66 to Teesside Park will depart from Bridge Road, outside the DWP Offices.
Compass Royston services 588/589 will terminate at, and depart from, Yarm Lane (Bowesfield Lane stop)
Arriva service X66 to both Darlington and Middlesbrough will depart from Bridge Road, outside the DWP Offices.

Programmed to commence on Monday 13 September on the bus stop on Bishopton Lane at Stockton Railway Station (Stockton Town Centre bound), and will last for about 2 weeks. During this time, the bus stop will be out of use, and intending passengers will be directed to the stop outside Argos.

Tyne & Wear

We have been informed that Dock Road, North Shields has been closed to allow construction work. At present we do not know the expected duration of the closure.
While it is in progress Go North East service 19 will divert between Chirton Dene Way and Howdon Road via George Stephenson Way.

On Friday 10th September 2010, a Freedom of The City Parade will take place for the 3 Rifles Brigade.
A parade will take place from approximately 11.30 a.m. from the Civic Centre Burdon Road, Sunderland. They will march north along Burdon Road into Fawcett Street, from there they will continue into High Street West, Union Street, Market Square, Waterloo Place, Borough Road and back into Burdon Road. A short service will take place at the cenotaph before they return to the Civic Centre and disband. The whole ceremony will take about 1 and a half hours.
Northumbria police will close the roads along the route by way of a rolling road-block.
Short delays to traffic can be expected, while the march and the service takes place

Disruption to services due to Great North Run
On Sunday 19 September 2010
To accommodate the various temporary road closures required for the Great North Run, local Stagecoach bus services within South Tyneside will need to be revised and curtailed between approx 0900 – 1800 on Sunday 19 September 2010.
In general terms, bus services will be unable to run across John Reid Rd or Prince Edward Rd.
As a consequence, bus services will not be able to serve a number of estates in the borough, including Fellgate, Brockley Whins, Biddick Hall, Whiteleas, Cleadon Park or the Boldons. Services E1, E2, E6 will be severed within the Marsden area, and some routes within South Tyneside will not operate until late afternoon.
