Please find below, information on how to plan a journey online using the North East and Cumbria 'journey planner' system. The following topics are covered:

If you are experiencing problems using the 'journey planner' system, please contact us for support, we will be happy to assist wherever possible.

Entering 'From' and 'To' Details

The first stage of planning a journey is to enter the name of the place that you would like to travel from, and also details of your destination.

Including as much information as you are able will help the system make the appropriate match or offer a list of close matches up to a maximum of 32.

Details you should include if you can, in the following sequence please, are the City, Town or Village, the suburb and the stop name.

Don't worry if you do not know the precise spelling of a place as the system will offer a list of 'close matches' allowing you to select the most appropriate.

The planner is also not sensitive to whether you use upper or lower case letters.

This will happen if any of the places you have entered do not match the information in the system, or if you have left any 'Stop or Street' boxes empty. The system will provide 'nearest matches' to the details you have entered and you will need to use the drop-down menu to select whichever option meets your requirements. If none of the nearest matches are relevant to the city, town, village, suburb, street or stop you require, click the 'Revise' button to enter an alternative. Clicking the 'Clear' button will remove all of the details you have entered, and allow you to start again.

Note that, in order to clarify all of your travel requirements you may need to click the 'Submit' button several times before you are provided with a list of 'suggested journeys'.
